I think they've stopped handing out material goods (for good)...
The X-mas presents will be along the line of last years interactive presents..
Posted: Fri, 2005-12-09 15:04
yeah now we are too many net pets in here it's judt too much of a hand full to send out presents to all of us so they only make videos and stuff like that as x-mas presents that they can putt out on a "secret" netpet page

thanks for the replies

I think it's understandably enough.
I read some years ago that they've wrote about 7.000 autographs when the Mad X-Mas single was send out.

i think it's sad though, cux many of the members inhere, are never online, and might not even be a true D-A-D fan.. and because of them we, that supports D-A-D 100%, can't have a personal x-mas present

i totally agree with you lådde

..I think it would be ok, if they stopped the free membership of dad.com.
If they priced it to, for example, 10 Euros pr year, we could get rid of all the un-serius members. And perhaps we could get a quality-gift, or some cool member things on this site. I think it could lift this site to be more active.. By this I mean, it is not much we hear from the band in here. For example, their tourlist for next summer could be read anywhere else, before it was published in here..
And by the way, we can all afford to give 10 E.....

It's a great idea Toksvig. But from what I know, it's a bit more complicated than just making a fan club. I think they would have to raise a union (forening) to do it like that. But I too believe that most of the true believer would gladly pay 10 £ or perhaps 100 DKR yearly in return of f.ex. a "real" x-mas gift and perhaps other fan club advantages..
Posted: Sat, 2005-12-10 16:45
10 ⬠for a Xmas gift that costs less than half of it? Are you outta your mind guys? I think that what's cool about this website and the net pet club is that it's free! That fuckin' rules! D-A-D are really kind to their fans by offering us this fuckin' cool website. Concerning other members of the netpet club, it's not because they don't post in here very often that they don't check the site. I personnaly visit d-a-d.com everyday! I read all the posts, and I reply rarely, but I'm really interested in what's goin' on here. So no, keep it free, it's really cool this way!

I AGREE with JPV
How can you say that it should be something we should pay for?!
I was about to become a member of the Nickelback fanclub yesterday,, when i saw it costed 24 $ or so... i just thought HELL NO!!!
We buy their cd's and everything, therefore we should get this free..
Posted: Sat, 2005-12-10 17:08
OnlyRock -> And what about all those (incl. me) who just hate Nickelback, and don't buy their albums? Then we also have free access for the goods.
I think it would be a good idea to pay for be in the 'fanclub'.. And don't you think that christmasgifts wouldn't be the only thing we get?
Posted: Tue, 2005-12-13 03:38
the "fan club" could be different then just being a regular netpet...
i also believe if DAD sent an email to us and asked us to respond making sure we are still interested in being their netpets/fans... they'd get a much more accurate number of us in which to send gifts to.
I'd pay to be in a fan club, but would want to get something other than accessing their free site for it... and what about us outside of lovely Denmark... they'd have to pay more postage to send us our Xmas crap...
PS Maybe if we sent them a gift we'd get one in return? Would they want something from us??
Posted: Tue, 2005-12-13 07:48
If you hate them.... would you want the goods?
think about it ;) hehe
I still think it should be free... and nothing could change my mind. Even though I'm a huge DAD fan, I wouldn't want to pay for being in their fan club. I have all their cd's and stuff like that.. I think I've paid enough
And this years christmas present could just be that they announced a DVD for the new year!!! Enough for me...
scare yourslf was an early christmas present this year hehe

..it's all good arguments for keeping it free.. And I would also hate to see the 'club' turning into a money-making machine, like Metallica's fanclub, or so.. But if they gave us something for the money, like a 'speciel-made' cd, and perhaps some other cool stuff..
Also, if we paid to be members, I think the band would be obligated to write in here.. Right now, the last time they posted in here, was TH writing something a year ago.. That just not good enough... But I understand all the other arguments for not paying for a membership.. Perhaps both could be possible.. two memberships perhaps.. A free, wich gave the opportunity to write, and participate ind the debate here, and a membership wich could cost a little, for those who wanted to recieve some speciel things from the band... I don't know.. just thougts..

ya know, it infuriates me that a few of you are making a scene by accusing those of us that are not on this site regularly to not being serious fans. I Sincerely LOVE this band, the greatest that I can imagine ever listening to. I try to buy all and everything by them that I can possibly get my handas on but being from the States that in itself is a hard chore, and the point of not constantly being on the webpage is means for me not being a serious fan, I have a full-time job and a family of 5 (including myself), I go to school and take care of the house and the kids because my wife is a traveling nurse. honestly, I dont have the time to enjoy the site as much as I would like but I do make time to do so during the down time of my busy life.
thanks for letting me vent....
p.s. capt. Spacehead - THANX !!!
I'll e-mail you later.

you shouldn't pay for being a fan...?!
Posted: Thu, 2005-12-15 21:49
I think it would not solve anything if it´d cost money to be a NPC, and those who aint NPC´s can also be fans.
But I do not know how expensive it is to run this site, and if it´s too expensive I would not mind to pay for being able to use the site, but I do think it would be problematic, because I think we would hear less from lesser fans and somehow I just can´t picture it to cost money to be a dedicated fan.

Hmm... I was thinking on a way that it's the "real truebelivers"(don't misunderstand me) that get a x-mas gift: While you're edit you acount, it will be smart if it would be possible to choose(vælge) either a True Beliver profile or a standard profile. if you choose the True Beliver profile then you pay a few money(maybe 30 dkkr pr mounth) and then you get the gift. If you choose the standard Net Pet profile you ain't paying money and you don't get a x-mas gift either.
Just an idea...
Posted: Fri, 2005-12-16 18:32
why does everyone wants to seperate the fans in here???
all those true believers and so on... I think it's sad....
we are all fans each our way...
I believe im a pretty big d.a.d fan..
my walls a plastered with 3 d.a.d posters, only one in usual size, the others are those great ones... but i don't listen to them all the time... i have all their albums... seen them a bundle of times and so on... but im not interested in paying any cash for being a net pet...
and the idea about seperating fans... SUCKS....

69soulbender, I understand what you mean, but when people talk about "less serious" Net Pets it's probably those who's created a profile just for fun and who don't really care what goes on with D-A-D or on d-a-d.com.
I'm sure nobody was trying to lump you or anyone who cares about the band in with that group.
Myself, I would gladly pay a small amount for posting here, but I don't see why I should. We don't have any videos, we don't have any band participation and we don't get any presents. I'm fine with that, but if I were to pay ANY amount of money I'd expect that to change immediately. Which isn't likely, I'm afraid.
Plus, we don't have much spam, even though everything's free. I think all's fine as it is.

Lasse - a possible way to rid out those people who just creates a profile and never use it again, could be something like you have to "reactivate" yourself a couple of times each year...
Posted: Fri, 2005-12-16 21:38
That's what I meant
Posted: Fri, 2005-12-16 22:01
..Please don't get offended people!!! i don't want that.. When I said something about "less serious pets", I meant exactly those who made an account for fun, and who are not fans of the band... But ofcourse a reactivation could solve that problem.. I also think the best would be if it could be kept free as now.. But I would very much like to see a more active site.. By that I mean I would like to hear i little more from the band in here. As I mentioned before, the last time they wrote in their diary was, i think, in ´04..
If it became a pay-site, the band HAD to be more active in here..
I hope you understand..

No one hates you ;)
Posted: Fri, 2005-12-16 23:41
ZD -> that is probably the best way to do it. Though I don't think it'll ever be necessary. I mean, we won't get the "real" presents anymore, so why would you even want to weed out the inactive members?

Does the christmas gift become official on the 24... Or a couple of days before..?
Posted: Mon, 2005-12-19 03:19
Okay then, Sorry if i seemed to come on a bit strong. I had only misunderstood what had been said. Although I DO agree with all the Lasse has just exclaimed.
The Disneyland Nightmare Rules....And that's the bottom line.

it sux hard because I do reside in the U.S.of A and One of my few dreams before my demise would be to see D-A-D live at least once. But alas, if things never change (the fact that they will prolly never tour the states) that dream will never become reality Unless I travel, which with a family, is out of the question. But at least I have the webshop when it works, and E-bay when it doesn't....YYEEAAHH!!!!!!
Posted: Fri, 2005-12-23 20:15
...hmm.. Its tought.. If you visit Denmark, we could arrange a cheap place for you, and your family, to stay.. But ofcourse it won't make the trip cheap, just less expensive..
