A Horse With No Name (Dewey Bunnell cover)
Posted: Wed, 2005-08-17 17:24
How the Hell that crap ass song ended up on the best D:A:D album to date is a mystery to me... And the Japs got "Time Swallows Time", now that was a kick ass song!
Posted: Wed, 2005-08-17 22:22
whats the matter..
Posted: Wed, 2005-08-17 23:00
A horse with no name!
Posted: Thu, 2005-08-18 02:40
Huh...I like those songs above however
I go for the " son of the gun" though I say it myself.
Posted: Thu, 2005-08-18 02:59
I actually like son of a gun. What about it makes it unappealing? Just wondering...
Posted: Thu, 2005-08-18 04:34
It's too much COUNTRY over this song for my taste... it's not so musically bad, but not my kind of bag! I hope you now understand what I mean... :)))
Posted: Thu, 2005-08-18 06:36
I totally feel the same - that its all country and weird. I do like it though Like Trucker, it's completely different. At first, I didn't like Trucker. Now, I do. I just always thought "Son of A Gun" sounded like a TV show theme.

The worst song has to be:

Posted: Thu, 2005-08-18 15:44
FLAT is a great song you nimwits.
AS for D-A-D's country sound, why do you think they're listed as Cowpunk in their earlier years? Come on man.
Grow or Pay, Rock n' Rock Rader, Laugh and a½, are some of the best song in the entire bloody universe, just listen to the fucking lyrics !! GOD!
I wouldn't say D-A-D have made a bad track per say, all their creative input has just come from different times in their lives, and I bet my ass that they all love the tracks they've put on their CD's.

10 knots and Son of a gun
Posted: Thu, 2005-08-18 17:15
The irony in the lyrics of '10 knots' is great! It's a cool song:
'First we'll play some poker
And have a warm beer
Lets play a little poker
And have a nize hot beer'

The 4 worst (and only bad songs):
Blue all over

Where did all this whine come from?
Posted: Fri, 2005-08-19 10:32
many of you dislike everything glows.. that is my favorite album
the worst song.. hmm.. I dont rembember wich one is the worst.. But it's probebly one of the songs from the no fuel album, that i never listen to.
Posted: Fri, 2005-08-19 16:18
Reason for my whine... (although this is the topic - personal thoughts on their worst song or my least favorite I thought)
To me, rock n rock radar sounds like a formulated song... like it's fine tuned to be a hit type song. I do like the clever words and music, just too formulated for my tastes though.
Posted: Fri, 2005-08-19 16:39
I do like the earlier cow/punk/rock but I thought that son of a gun was to much country for my taste.
Posted: Fri, 2005-08-19 17:49
Hmm. Not many in here dislike 'Everything Glows'.
Posted: Fri, 2005-08-19 19:48
It must be one of the old songs. Though it hurts me to say it.
Posted: Sat, 2005-08-20 20:17

Posted: Sun, 2005-08-21 20:54
locomj and I have been friends since 1988. Around that time, my friend in Finland send me a copy (tape) of Counting the Cattle. I played it relentlessly until locomj agreed to like DAD. And Sad, Sad XMas made her pee her pants! See, all is well now.
Posted: Sun, 2005-08-21 20:56
yup that's true. now whenever I feel sad or depressed I will listen to Counting the Cattle or Sad Sad Xmas and it makes me smile!
Posted: Mon, 2005-08-22 02:59
They are both rather sad songs. :P
How about listening to something truly depressing like Naked But Still Stripping? :P
Posted: Mon, 2005-08-22 04:07
does it have to be a d-a-d song? cause I know some really bad ones from over here. An example:
In far away places, you've got to be patient. You can't eat cake when you're house breaking. Out there now you can hear the sound. The dragon is coming fom Asia
Your such a sticky little bitch
Think you got it all
just hope you don't know more than I know

Both "Everything Glows" and "Soft Dogs" Got plenty of candidates.
Posted: Tue, 2005-08-23 14:31
can't point one out, but would be something from soft dogs
FLAT's great tho
Posted: Wed, 2005-08-24 21:24
Yeah those two CDs suck... I dont even have "Soft Dogs" as I didnt want to spend my $ on it after listening to it at a friends house...man I hated Laust back then! Hes doing a great job on "Scare..." though. Cudos!
And since it was just one song and not an album, I have to go with FLAT...damn that one BAD song on their best album to date!
Posted: Thu, 2005-08-25 11:48
As a long-time fan I really can't understand all this slagging of 'Soft Dogs'. I thought it was a fantastic album. Admittedly the most laid back of their career, but both musically and lyrically, excellent. I thought it was their best since the sublime 'Helpyourselfish', and wouldn't nominate ANY track on it as the 'worst D-A-D song'. The only track I'm too fussed about is 'What's The Matter'. On the contrary, in 'So What', 'The Truth About You' and 'Human Kind', 'Soft Dogs' contains some of their best songs ever.
I really wish I could say the same about 'Scare Yourself' though. It's the first D-A-D album that's disappointed me. There just aren't the usual strong hooks I've come to expect. I keep playing it, TRYING to like it more, but you shouldn't really have to do that! 'Lawrence Of Suburbia' and 'Dirty Fairytale' are the only tracks that really cut it for me. I don't know, maybe the promise of a return to a rockier vein got me expecting too much. Don't get me wrong though, they still piss over just about everyone else, it's just that they've set very high standards in the past.
Oh yeah, my nominations for worst D-A-D song? Apart from stuff on the first two albums I'd opt for 'Siamese Twin', 'Candybar' or (dare I say it?) 'I Won't Cut My Hair'.
'Flat' is brilliant by the way...

Jihad is AWESOME!
Posted: Fri, 2005-09-02 11:15
...and so is 'Itswhenitswrongitsright'. The line 'A farewell to arms, a farewell to legs' is makes it an inspired classic for a start!
Posted: Fri, 2005-09-02 12:12
Hard Cat: I agree with you; Jihad is soooooooo grate!!!!
I don't like 10 knots, it just simply way: BAD!! = =
